When Ollie was really young we had quite a time getting him to go to sleep and stay asleep. We tried swaddling him the way that the hospital showed us, we tried the swaddling blankets available at our local department store, we tried everything we could think of, all to no avail.
Finally, in desperation, I asked my friends who had babies what had worked for them. (Note to self: DO THIS FIRST! People, like, know things. About babies. They're willing to share this valuable information with you, if only you ask.) Almost everyone had been where we were, and most of them said that swaddling their babies correctly had allowed them to sleep, and sleep well. They all agreed that swaddling blankets or wraps were the way to go, and most of them pointed me towards the Miracle Blanket.
Because we were desperate, and the reviews of the product were so overwhelmingly, glowingly positive, we ordered two Miracle Blankets and the Miracle Sounds CD. They arrived quickly, within a few days.
THEY WERE INCREDIBLE. Ollie went from sleeping one and a half or so hours at a stretch, and waking up tired and fussy to sleeping three to four hours at a stretch. I cannot emphasize how absolutely incredible this was, nor the difference that it made in our sanity as first time, new parents. The Miracle Blanket lives up to its name!
We put the Miracle Sounds on our iPod and we still play them every time he sleeps on a little travel stereo. Since he sleeps in our bedroom, we all enjoy the soothing, relaxing heartbeat sounds. I may have to continue to play it after he moves to the nursery in a few months, because I really think it helps me sleep, too!
Now, at four and a half months old, Ollie has outgrown his Miracle Blankets (he is over 18 pounds). I expect that with less gigantorhumongous babies the Miracle Blanket would last a lot longer, but, well, my baby is enormous. He's also sleeping quite well on his own now, and doesn't really need to be swaddled anymore. But for those first four months? The Miracle Blanket was a lifesaver.
The people at Miracle Industries have offered to let me host a giveaway for you, and I am absolutely thrilled to be able to share a Miracle Blanket with one of my readers!

I like the natural beige! We swaddled with regular blankets with our first two, but this looks so much easier - it would be great to use with #3 :-)

First off, I love that Kim West (Good Night, Sleep Tight) supports this product - her book saved me with my first nugget! My second one is not a happy camper, so I may have to purchase this if I don't win...the baby can't go anywhere in this thing! Love how the arms get tucked in first - genius!!!
